Dickeyville 4th of July

Celebrating Independence Day in light of Woodstock

9 min.

The historic community of Dickeyville in Baltimore celebrates Independence Day with keynote speech by Dr. Herb Smith, a parade, dinner party, fireworks and other events. The theme of the celebration, titled "WetheredStock," was the 40th anniversary of the 1969 Woodstock rock concert. Wethered is the family name of one of the original founders of the community in 1830. The celebration evokes the hippie spirit of the concert and the culture of the time, magnificently described and presented by Dr. Smith, a university professor and Dickeyville resident.

Recorded in Dickeyville, Baltimore, Maryland, July 4th, 2009.
